Parent/Guardian Letter

Dear Parent or Guardian,

I wanted to take this opportunity to introduce myself and express my excitement about working with your child not only in the classroom this semester, but also on my blog and wiki.  I love teaching art because I care so much about each of my students. I believe that students can grow immensely through art with expressing themselves and also understand the different aspects of our world. The main goal of my course is to learn to express themselves in various mediums and understand the history of art and how to apply it to the real world.

The unit we are currently working on is our Egyptian Mummy Mask unit. The students are making their masks out of clay to represent them. The Web quest and blog are used to extend the learning to outside of school and provide them with more information and in turn, prepare them in not only art, but other disciplines as well. You, or your student can access the information on any computer. I am asking the students to work outside of class almost every day, just like homework in other classes. They will be doing the messy work at school, with clay, and then working on reading assignments, sketching assignments, and other interactive assignments on the computer. If you have any questions, see below.

Additional information can be provided if you ever have any questions, comments, or concerns. I am available for phone calls and meetings (by appointment please) each day before and after school. To schedule a meeting, you can contact me via email at alexandriadelong24@gmail.com or phone at (620) 555-1234.

I am excited about working with your child with this Egyptian unit and the rest of the year!

Sincerely,
Miss Alexandria DeLong
